It was only -17 with the wind chill
This is what happens to my face when the endorphins kick in, regardless of the temperature. When it’s 35 degrees or -17 degrees, like today, it looks the same. 5 years ago, I would have laughed at the crazy bastards running in the cold. Guess my perspective changed after getting in a horrible car accident. The winds were brutal, but I didn’t care. It just made the coffee taste extra awesome today…

Amazing run, in the freezing rain, out to County Road 29 and back…had a zen moment. Must have been the endorphins:
Distance: 10k
Time: 1:04:17
Endorphins (“endogenous morphine”) are endogenous opioid peptides that function as neurotransmitters.[1] They are produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates during exercise,[2] excitement, pain, consumption of spicy food, love and orgasm,[3][4] and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a feeling of well-being.

Had to get out for a run. The seasonal affective disorder is really kicking in. This time of year, I leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark. That really sucks ass. The run really helped with it..

Decided to run out of town into the farmlands of Wellington County. Was cold with freezing rain at the start (-1), then it was sunny, then it was windy. There was a few muddy parts of the run, but overall a great run. Sinuses were giving me issues from the cold air.

Been a mild winter, until now..looking forward to hitting the slopes in the next week, as there is some serious powder out there, or “pow” as the ultra-hip skier dorks say. I may head out for a run, but the winds are screaming at Ontario today.

Winter Is Here!
2012:
Didn’t make any official resolutions, but I guess I will continue on from last years: stay healthy and run my ass off. 1,500 km in 2012. 2 marathons are in the plans. I am running on Dec. 22nd, no matter what those Mayans say.
Party on…
